Marshall Mathers, also known as Eminem, is wrapping up the production for his first new album in three years that is set to hit the shelves this summer, UPI reported.
News about the album was first confirmed by record producer Dr. Dre, who said the rapper was finishing a new project. It was then validated by a post on the Aftermath Entertainment Facebook page, which said Eminem would soon be coming out with new music.
Shady Records President Paul Rosenberg toldBillboard, "It's safe to say that it will be post-Memorial Day at some point, but we're not exactly sure when."
Eminem is scheduled to go on tour in Europe during the second half of August, although it is unclear whether the rapper will release the album before, during or after he goes on the road.
Dr. Dre has been a long-time collaborator with Eminem, and this week he called in to Los Angeles radio show Big Boy’s Neighborhood to talk about the rapper's new music.
Dr. Dre told the host that Eminem is almost finished with his new material. The record producer also mentioned that he has been back in the studio himself, though he states he is “just having fun.”
“Em is finishing up his project, man,” he said. “And for me, man, I’ve just, like, gotten inspired again to go back in the studio. So I’m…really just having fun, with life and having fun being creative and just trying some new and different things with myself, man.”
Eminem has released six studio albums during his career. His last effort was 2010′s Recovery.
